My life got flipped-turned upside down
And I'd like to take a minute
Just sit right there
I'll tell you how I became the princess of a thing called frugal-i-tahr?
$5 per box x 2 boxes = $10 a month for tabs
Eh, doesn't seem sooo bad, but wait
$10 per month x 12 months = $120 a year
So I did a little research and here's what I came out with what it would cost initially and for a year if I bought everything new to make my own.
Borax $8, Washing Soda $4, Salt $2 (maybe), Lemon juice $2. I later switched to Lemi Shine $4 (not a sponsored link) instead of lemon juice alone because its stronger. I have a family of 5, we tend to make big messes.
So lets do the math (not adding the Lemi Shine):
My recipe only uses a fraction of the materials needed so I kind of did the math until it felt right. I came up with $0.87 for 32 tablets so here we go:
$0.87 / 32 = $0.02 per tab
$0.87 x 2 "boxes" per month = $1.75 per month
$1.75 x 12 months = $21.00 per year
According to my math (which probably isn't exact lo) I can save my family $100(technically $99 but I'm rounding up) a year. Now HOW to make your own detergent tabs for the dishwasher.
First gather your materials:
Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda
Salt (most any will do)
Lemon Juice or Lemi Shine
(If you are using Lemi Shine this will be an all powder detergent, mix and your done! Lucky you! Everyone else keep reading)
Add the lemon juice slowly until you get to the consistency of wet sand.
